Switch up that skincare routine!

Summer is coming to an end! We’re all super sad to see the warm weather and long days come to an end but we have beautiful fall to look forward to! With fall coming that means your skin is about to change.

For those of you who don’t know, your skin goes through changes just like the weather does every season. Considering your skin is your largest and arguably one of the most important organs, its vitality is important to take care of! As the weather starts to cool off it’s important to take a look at your skin care routine and start making changes as your skin adjusts to the lowering temperatures and the drier air.

Here are some things to change in your skincare routine:

  1. Cleansers– During the summer with heat and humidity most people use a cleanser that is going to help combat any extra oil that your face may produce from the heat. However, in the fall with cooler temps and drier air your skin is going to need more moisture and hydration. Look for cleansers with hydrating qualities and DON’T be afraid of oil! It’s a little known fact that oil actually cleanses oil. Meaning cleansers with oil are going to clean and hydrate without stripping your skin of necessary oils.
  2. Serums and creams– We all get a little lazy in the summer when it comes to skincare because the majority of us are wearing less makeup and other skin clogging products. As we transition into fall it’s time to get a little more aggressive and consistent with our routine. Since the sun isn’t going to be out as much and most of the population will be back at work and school, fall is a great time to add back serums and creams that have additives that help with skin resurfacing and cell turnover. Look for products with Vitamin A, Vitamin C,  and Hyaluronic Acid to name a few!
  3. See a professional– One of the absolute best ways to get your skin through the summer to fall transition is to see a skincare professional! During the summer we all use more sunscreen than we do during any other time of the year. This is great for protecting our beautiful skin BUT it means that we had a lot of gunk in our pores that needs to get cleaned out. Also, that weather change can make your skin feel and look dehydrated and dull. Seeing a skincare professional will help clean out your skin and help get your skin glowing, soft and hydrated to take on the cooler months. On top of getting top notch skincare it’s a great opportunity to talk about your at home skin care routine and how to ensure that your skin stays beautiful between appointments.

Take the time to enjoy the last few weeks of summer but don’t forget about your skin when the temperature drops!
